Hi all you wonderful people in blog land, really do love your insight, wisdom and humor.
I have always been interested in Astrology and how this affects me as a person, but have not really taken much interest in choosing potential partners according to their horoscope signs.
Recent reflection of past love/love interests has found a startling thing. I have had the best relationships with those that are meant to astrologically match my sign of Leo.
Now I had always thought that people that put too much weight into this as a bit fanatical ( sorry) but I am now starting to wonder?
What about you? Do you believe in the horoscope matching for relationships? Have your best relationships being the best matches astrologically?
Is there something in this or am I commencing the first stages of senility?? LOL

Yes TT agree with you here, it does take courage as well as faith and trust.

All relationships have something of value to impart if you are willing to look and learn.

Now I do think it is interesting that the person you are talking about is matched with you in the stars.

May be you two are a match made in heaven? :)

Miss Oz,
You knocked it on the head with that comment. It is a matter of "Are we REALLY willing to COMMIT and WORK at it" If we are, it does not really matter what the stars say or what society says.

It takes courage today to want to put your soul and mind out there for another to see. We can get hurt and sometimes do, but is it all bad? Did we take NOTHING away from that experience?

OK, I will have to admit, the person I am interested in and am finding to be very compatible with me on so many levels does fit the profile of the stars.

Who knows, maybe you are right..

TT

Thanks TT,

Well most of the people I have dated/relationships where meant to be incompatible.

Now though we got on well most were somewhat harder to maintain, and slower ignite. If that makes sense?

I'm not saying that people of not matches sign cant make it, anyone can if they work hard at it.

So TT did you look at the last friends that you made in regards to this? What did you find out? Does it hold any merritt?

Miss Oz,

Wow, some insightful information, not to mention some realistic views.

I still will say that I believe it is more in the "what we know" than the star sign itself. Yet,on the same note I will say that there is a clear trend to a persons being and whom they are relating to the star signs. You now have me thinking and I have to go and look at the last friends I have made and how this relates to me. WOW, something new to explore and ponder over.

So has anyone else found this same experience?

Oz, have you found it to be the same with those on this list of incompatibilities?

TT

Thank you for your comment Tonfree.

Very much agree that our beliefs and who we think we are guide and shape us, and dictate who we will be willing to get to know, and who we will pass by.

Now you say "that it is in the stars if that is where you want it to be"

So do you really believe that this has no merit unless we believe it? What if you did not know anything useful about the stars and astrological matches?

Late last year I met my first (that I am aware of) Aries male. Now at the time I did not know this, and he did not even know his star sign.

The rapport and connection seemed to happen effortlessly and before we knew it we were good friends. This did eventually lead to a relationship, that to this day, we both would say was special.

Then I turn around and meet yet another Aries, again the connection was nearly instant and undeniable.

Now maybe this is all just coincidence? But then again, maybe its not? lol

So is there something more to all of this than personal beliefs and expectations?

Or would you say that my knowing that he was a matching sign influenced the direction and thus changed destiny?

In a very real world we all believe in something, be that in the stars or in the passion of the first touch. I am lucky enough to have a career where traveling is all about what I do and working with people from all walks of life, status and religion. I find that it is more so in what the person believes in that makes this work or not.

I think, speaking from personal experience and from what I see daily that it is in the stars if that is where you want it to be. It is fun to use this topic in a discussion with a stranger and opens minds and eyes to what?s all out there, but it also opens one self to the other party and lets others know whom we are (if we are truthful about it) Gives us more insight into those we talk to and share our feelings and desires with.

Stars or not, we all choose to believe in what we want and those beliefs guide us to those we think would be suitable to us and whom we really think we are.

Oh my as if it wasn't already all so confusing. :)

Thanks Qadesh. yet another lovely Leo, if I'm correct?

I'm not sure what to make of it and what difference it really makes to the signs. I will have to look into it a bit more.

Anyway, either way, I'm still a Leo.

Wow another wonderful Leo. There certainly seems to be a lot of us in the blogs. he he

Well Tom from what I understand you can have a relationship with another Leo, but it is either great or real bad.

I think they say that two Leo's have to be able to compromise on who is taking the show, and who is the boss. lol

I met a man at work recently who is a Leo, and the chemistry nearly sent me for a six. We get on so well, and seem to have connected so easily that it is a big scary.

I'm not sure where it will go, but wee defiantly get on real well. So maybe some times it can work?

Well thank you Blue, another fabulous Leo. :)

Well I think this is so ever interesting.

The father of my little guy was a Cancer, not such a great relationship.

Then this year I happen to meet my first ever Aries, we went out for 5 months and it was very special.

Since then I met another Aries, a Sagittarius and a Leo, all potentially better quality relationship than any of the not suited signs I had met or been with before. That is what made me wonder about this.

I'm glad it had validated your relationship, but I will have to say it sounds like you have a good man there whatever his sign may be. xxx

Strange News
Your Astrological Sign May Not Be What You Think It Is

By Pedro Braganca, Special to LiveScience

The vernal equinox marks the first day of spring and occurs at the intersection of the ecliptic and the celestial equator. The vernal equinox also marks the zero point of the Zodiac.

It's a great conversation starter: "What's your sign?"

But before you ask or answer that question, consider this: your zodiac sign corresponds to the position of the sun relative to constellations as they appeared over 2200 years ago!

The science behind astrology may have its roots in astronomy but don?t confuse these two disciplines. Astronomy can explain the position of the stars in the sky but it?s up to you to determine what, if anything, their alignment signifies.

The Constellations of the Zodiac

The ecliptic, or the position of the Sun as it?s perceived from the revolving Earth, passes through the constellations that formed the Zodiac - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Zodiac signs were originally determined by which constellation the Sun was "in" on the day you were born.

Early astronomers observed the Sun traveling through the signs of the Zodiac in the course of one year, spending about a month in each. Thus, they calculated that each constellation extends 30 degrees across the ecliptic.

However, a phenomenon called precession has altered the position of the constellations we see today.

Precession and Astrology

The first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere was once marked by the zero point of the Zodiac. Astronomers call this the vernal equinox and it occurs as the ecliptic and celestial equator intersect.

Around 600 BCE, the zero point was in Aries and was called the "first point of Aries." (Figure 1) The constellation Aries encompassed the first 30 degrees of the ecliptic; from 30 to 60 degrees was Taurus; from 60 to 90 degrees was Gemini; and so on for all twelve constellations of the Zodiac.

Unbeknownst to the ancient astrologers, the Earth continually wobbles around its axis in a 25,800-year cycle. This wobble?called precession?is caused by the gravitational attraction of the Moon on Earth's equatorial bulge.

Over the past two-and-a-half millennia, this wobble has caused the intersection point between the celestial equator and the ecliptic to move west along the ecliptic by 36 degrees, or almost exactly one-tenth of the way around. This means that the signs have slipped one-tenth?or almost one whole month?of the way around the sky to the west, relative to the stars beyond.

For instance, those born between March 21 and April 19 consider themselves to be Aries. Today, the Sun is no longer within the constellation of Aries during much of that period. From March 11 to April 18, the Sun is actually in the constellation of Pisces! (Figure 2) See also Figure 3, which demonstrates the precession of the equinoxes from 600 BCE to 2600.

Your "Real Sign"

The table below lists the dates when the Sun is actually within the astronomical constellations of the Zodiac, according to modern constellation boundaries and corrected for precession (these dates can vary a day from year to year).

You will most likely find that once precession is taken into account, your zodiac sign is different. And if you were born between November 29 and December 17, your sign is actually one you never saw in the newspaper: you are an Ophiuchus! The eliptic passes through the constellation of Ophiuchus after Scorpius.

Now you really have something cool with which to start that conversation!

Check out your ?real? zodiac sign below and see what the sky looked like on your birthday by going to the Birthday Sky application.

Capricorn - Jan 20 to Feb 16
Aquarius - Feb 16 to Mar 11
Pisces - Mar 11 to Apr 18
Aries - Apr 18 to May 13
Taurus - May 13 to Jun 21
Gemini - Jun 21 to Jul 20
Cancer - Jul 20 to Aug 10
Leo - Aug 10 to Sep 16
Virgo - Sep 16 to Oct 30
Libra - Oct 30 to Nov 23
Scorpius - Nov 23 to Nov 29
Ophiuchus - Nov 29 to Dec 17
Sagittarius - Dec 17 to Jan 20
